To say it’s been a while since I’ve written is an insult to myself. So I won’t say it; instead, I’ll just write.
This will serve as an update to keep myself and anyone watching on track. It’s been a hectic few months, but not without plenty to be grateful for and happy about. My husband and I celebrated our one year anniversary back in May of this year; a little more than a month later, we found out that we were having our first child. It was not wholly unplanned, but I don’t think such a thing ever comes without its own degree of surprise.
Yesterday, we learned that our child is a girl. And based on her ultrasound photos, she’s already pretty weird, so that’s a good thing. She just let out her first kick as I was sitting in front of this screen, trying to decide whether or not I should put fingers to keyboard. Guess that was a good enough motivator.
Anyway, my goal is to start writing again. My mind is a jumble and the stress of our lives has yet to even begin to calm, but if I let my writing slip away (again), I’m not sure I could forgive myself. So even if it is just a line, just a small snippet, just a branch of dialogue, just an idea–even if it is small, I will try to write. That is my goal.
We’ll be moving soon (most likely) so I know that I will not be able to keep up with that goal as fiercely as I’d like, but having it takes just a little of the stress off my shoulders all the same.
